The Mortlach 22 YO A Marriage of Casks is a vatting (marriage) of one sherry butt with single malt distilled in 1990 and three ex-bourbon hogsheads with single malt distilled in 1993. This release is sold out, but you might find a bottle or two online. Nose : Rich, thick, dark. Wet leaves, damp woods, dunnage warehouse. Slightly intense – showing off the big and bold Mortlach character. With time tobacco leaves and fresh herbs. Spicy beef stew in the background. Taste : Rich and full bodied. Massive mouthfeel. BIG! No rubber notes. Sweet raisins, figs, honey, and a pinch of salt. Again spicy broth or stew in the background. Finish : Long and rich finish. Lovely sherry notes. Big sugary sweetness. Soft oakiness. Chocolate confectionery and cinnamon. In the end basil and thyme! Comment : This dram is BIG and demands your ATTENTION. What?s not to LOVE? Score 90/100
